LocalJXL started from a simple annoyance: most online image converters make you upload your photos to a stranger’s server. For a format as new as JPEG XL, that is often the only option on offer.
LocalJXL takes a different approach. The JPEG XL decoder and encoder are compiled to WebAssembly and loaded into your browser, so converting a file never involves sending it anywhere. It is a small independent project, free to use.
